Making things work,
then making them beautiful
From WordPress themes to Django applications—my journey as a web developer in Limerick is built on curiosity, creativity, and never-ending learning.

Limerick, Ireland
Hi, I'm Karolis Petrauskas, a web developer based in Limerick, Ireland.
My Journey
My path into tech started humbly, with WordPress and Shopify—these were my first real taste of building things for the web. What began as curiosity quickly grew into genuine passion as I discovered how much impact thoughtfully crafted digital experiences could have.
From those early days tinkering with themes and plugins, I evolved into managing full-scale e-commerce sites, learning to balance beautiful front-end experiences with robust functionality. WordPress taught me structure and user-first thinking, while Shopify showed me the power of seamless commerce— both became stepping stones to something bigger.
Today, I work as a Web Administrator/Developer, where I've graduated from those beginner-friendly platforms to building sophisticated web applications with Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and Django, Flask, TailwindCSS, Bootstrap. The shift from "making things work" to "making things work beautifully" has been my favorite evolution. Every project now is a chance to blend my frontend creativity with hard-earned professional experience to create solutions that don't just function—they inspire.
How I Work
My approach to development is built on three core values: problem-solving, creativity, and continuous learning. Every line of code is written to solve a real problem—not just for the sake of technical elegance, but because it genuinely improves someone's experience.
Creativity isn't just about making things look pretty (though I'll confess—that's part of the fun). It's about finding elegant solutions to complex challenges, whether that's optimizing performance, improving accessibility, or creating delightful user interactions that make people smile.
The learning never stops. Technologies evolve, best practices shift, and I live for those "aha" moments when something new clicks. This isn't just what I do—it's who I am at my core.
Life Beyond Code
When I'm not immersed in development, you'll find me pushing my limits on running trails—currently training for both marathon and ultra distances. There's something beautifully parallel between long-distance running and debugging complex code: both require patience, persistence, and the ability to push through when things get tough.
Hiking gives me perspective—those moments on mountain peaks remind me why I love building tools that connect people and ideas. Building PCs is my zen time, a perfect blend of technical precision and artistic expression.
And when I need to shift gears entirely? I become DJ K-Petro, mixing tracks and designing music posters that blur the line between audio and visual art. The same attention to rhythm and flow that makes a great track also makes for intuitive user interfaces—who knew?
